July 13 - 18: Pensacola Opera Announces UWF Summer High School Music Camp
Pensacola Opera is the main partner in the UWF Summer High School Music Camp for students between the ages of 14 and 18 from July 13 - 18, 2008. Interested students will experience a broad array of musical instruction including beginning and advanced theory, musicianship classes (sight-singing), class piano, ensemble playing/singing, conducting, music technology, private applied instruction, and a host of evening concerts and activities. For more information on the High School Music Camp, contact the UWF Department of Music at (850) 474-2147. July 14: OWCs Schola Cantorum Holding Auditions for New Members. Auditions are being held for additional group members for Okaloosa-Walton Colleges Schola Cantorum, translated school of singing. Auditions will be held in Building J, room 312 on the OWC Niceville Campus from 6:00 to 7:30pm. There are limited number of openings in the soprano, alto, tenor and bass sections of the group. Auditions can be arranged by calling the director, John Leatherwood, at 850-830-2062. Individuals interested in auditioning should be able to read music. Previous experience singing in choral groups is desired. The OWC Schola Cantorum is comprised of a diverse group of singers from over the two county area who present music from across the ages. Much of the music is unaccompanied by instruments. The group is comprised of students, Air Force personnel, full-time workers and retirees. It is a group for all ages. July 14 - 25: Labelle Performing Arts in Pensacola presents Broadway Summer Camp! It will be a fun-filled two-week experience. Each day will begin with a morning snack and social time. Once students have settled in, they will warm-up and take multiple dance classes. After they have danced the morning away, they will break for lunch*. Following lunch students will explore a Broadway production with classes in costume design, set design, theater, musical theater and a tutorial.
At the end of the two week summer camp, the students will present their version of a Broadway show for friends and family with costumes and a set designed by them. This camp offers a chance to explore one of the greatest shows on Broadway.

July 19, August 9: WSRE Cranks Up the Volume, Launches New Concert Series StudioAmped -
At the request of viewers and fans of national PBS programs, like Austin City Limits and Soundstage, the local PBS television station, WSRE, is launching a new pilot project. StudioAmped will feature local artists/bands in concert at the station's performance studio. The performance will be taped and edited into a television series, which will air later this fall on WSRE.
The first season of StudioAmped features four artists in concert: Sadie Blu, July 19; and TBA, August 9. All concerts begin at 7:00pm. General Admission tickets are $7. Tickets can be purchased at WSRE in advance or the evening of the concert at the Amos Performance Studio ticket booth.

a Children's Creative Drama Workshop in Milton, FL

 

 

 

July 21 - 25 and July 28 - August 1: Pensacola Opera Announces Two (2) Summer Camps............ for children eight (8) and older this summer! 
1) Opera Camp gives children a chance to experience all of the elements of opera production. It culminates in a public performance of an opera created by campers under the guidance of a professional opera director and musical coaches. Campers play music and theatre games that teach them the skills used in operatic performance, and will gain hands-on experience in set, costume, prop, and makeup design. No previous experience or training is necessary for Opera Camp. Week One, July 21 -25, will include games and a performance based on Giacomo Rossinis opera Cenerentola (Cinderella). Week Two, July 28 -August 1, will use Giuseppe Verdis Ada as its theme. Each camp is from 9am-4pm Monday through Thursday, with a final performance for families at 5pm on Friday. Cost is $150 per week - each week is a separate program; Opera Campers can choose to participate in either or both. Opera Camp is open to students from age 8 to entering eighth graders. July 28 - August 1: Village Baptist Church in Destin is are having a Summer Kids Choir Camp July 28 to August 1. The camp is for kids who have completed kindergarten through fifth. It is a week-long camp running from that Monday to Friday from 9am to 2pm. The cost is $35 per child and includes the script, cd, and t-shirt. The name of the musical is Lifesong: Leading Like Jesus. The performance is scheduled for that Friday (August 1) at 6pm. They also need volunteers to help with the camp. If you're interested, call (850)-837-8107 and ask for Michael Turner or Amy Shaw.
